Gruhn is a German crypto law veteran who formerly served as the head of FTX Europe. The violin itself was sold for $1.7 million via the same auction house in 2013 and is the highest-selling item from the ship ever. The watch was among the personal effects found with Astor’s body after the Titanic sank, according to the auction house. The ultimately salvaged menu details the first dinner on board after the Titanic set sail from Queenstown, Belfast and reveals the opulence that the ship’s first-class passengers would have experienced. There seem to be no other surviving examples of the first-class menu for that specific night, the auction house found after consulting museums with Titanic collections and speaking to leading memorabilia collectors.
